9th March, 2012
My dear Aye Aye,
The long summer holidays are drawing near (နီးကပ္လာသည္) again. How are you going to spend (ကုန္လြန္သည္) the vacation (အားလပ္ရက္) this year? I would like to invite you to spend the holidays with me at my hometown.
You can travel by air-conditioned (ေလေအးစက္တပ္ဆင္ထားေသာ) bus or by train from Yangon to Mawlamyine. I like to suggest (အႀကံေပးသည္) that you take the Morning Express (အျမန္ရထား) which leaves Yangon at 10 a.m and arrives at Mottama at about 6 p.m. My elder brother and I will welcome (ႀကိဳဆိုသည္) you there. Then we shall cross (ျဖတ္ကူးသည္) the gulf (ပင္လယ္ေကြ႔) of Mottama by ferries (ကူးတို႔) and go to our house.
Mawlamyine is a beautiful town situated (တည္ရွိသည္) between the Thanlwin river the Mawlamyine hill. You can see gilded (ေရႊခ်ထားေသာ) pagodas on the top of the hill from far away. When you come, we shall climb the hill and visit these pagodas. Then we can take a pleasant(သာယာေသာ) walk along the Strand Road (ကမ္းနားလမ္း) in the evening. It is always cheerful (ၾကည္လင္ရႊင္ပ်ေသာ) and enjoyable (ေပ်ာ္စရာေကာင္းေသာ) to sit on the benches (ခံုရွည္) by the river. The sea breeze (ေလညင္း) will make you feel (ထိေတြ႔ခံစားသည္) cool.
Then I shall take you to KyaiKmaraw to pay homage (ဂါရဝျပဳျခင္း) to the unique (အတုမရွိ) Buddha statue (ဆင္းတု) donated (လွဴဒါန္းသည္) by the Mon queen Shin Saw Pu. The road to Kyaikmaraw is lined (တန္းစီသည္) up with palm trees (ထန္းပင္မ်ား) and very picturesque (လွပ၍ရႈခ်င္စဖြယ္ျဖစ္ေသာ). We shall also travel (ခရီးသြားသည္) to Kyaikkhami by bus along a tarred road (ကတၱရာလမ္း), 55 miles long and lined on both sides with rubber-trees. This town is a beautiful resort (အပန္းေျဖစခန္း) situated by the sea. The famous Kyaikkhami temple (ဘုရားေက်ာင္း) itself was built on rocks in sea water. We can stay for a couple of days at one of the rest houses (ဇရပ္မ်ား) near the temple. We can swim in the sea and dive (ဒိုင္ဗင္ထိုးသည္) over the tides (လႈိင္းလံုးမ်ား) to our hearts' content.
During the summer vacation my elder brother, who is studying at the Yangon Institute of Technology, will be at home. He promised (ကတိေပးသည္) to guide (လမ္းညႊန္သည္) us in our study on physics, chemistry and mathematics. Besides we have a fairly large collection (စုေဆာင္းျခင္း) of books at our home library (စာၾကည့္တိုက္). You will certainly (ေသခ်ာစြာ) enjoy reading some of the books.
So, Aye Aye, do write to me as soon as you can, and say that you are coming to spend the holidays with me.
With love and best wishes,
Your very sincerely,
Myint Myint
